Hi Guys, I’m a embedded software developer, I would like to learn more about hardware design of PCBs, the methodology of crafting a board with MCus, sensors and actuators, I have basic knowledge in electronics and electrical engineering from University , but when it’s comes to reading electronics schema and figuring out why some random parallel capacitor was added to the input line of an AOPs I feel stuck :p
Hey @sedex5431 have you designed any PCB before now?
Hi Guys, unfortunately I’ve never had the opportunity to do PCB design I’ve been software oriented for the past 4 years, now I have come to the conclusion that without deep understanding of hardware circuitry it’s hard to debug your embedded system
Probably a good place to start https://black-electronics.com/posts/pcb-fundamentals/
If you want to see live video its on the dev heads channel here : https://youtube.com/live/zpLpdz_HtHI
Thank you for taking time to give this detailed answer, appreciate it
Whatever point your at now, I think the most important thing if you want to learn about electronics, PCB design, etc, is just to get started. I mean watch a few videos about the theory etc, but at the end of the day you just have to bite the bullet and start experimenting. That will probably mean wiring things up on a breadboard at first, blinking an LED etc.
While I had some experience in electronics before this, I designed my first PCB a little over 5 years ago: https://embeddedcomputing.com/technology/analog-and-power/pcbs-components/take-the-plunge-into-pcb-design and since then being able to do that has opened up a lot of opportunities. Yes, I made a lot of mistakes along the way, and still do, but I’m way better now then I was when I started.
